Krynica Morska [ krɨˈɲiʦa ˈmɔrska ] ( 1945–1947 Łysa Góra , 1947–1958 Łysica , German Kahlberg ) is a town with about 1300 inhabitants on the Fresh Spit and a seaside resort in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship .

Krynica Morska is located on the Fresh Spit, directly north of the Piaski district is the border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast .

The Alt-Neukrug desert also belongs to the urban area , the place was destroyed by dune sand in 1825 . It was between Neukrug and Narmeln and was the common school location for both places.
history
The village emerged from a restaurant along a trade route from Gdansk to Koenigsberg . The place was probably founded by Kashubian settlers, Kahlberg was first mentioned in 1424. From 1457 Kahlberg was administered by the city of Danzig.
In 1841 a regular ferry connection to Elbing was established and the place began to grow. A lighthouse was built in 1904/05, which was destroyed in World War II and rebuilt in 1951. In addition, a large pier was built in the port of Kahlberg.
At the end of the Second World War, the place was occupied by the Red Army and, like all of West Prussia, was placed under Polish administration. The German residents were expelled and Kahlberg received the Polish form of the name Łysa Góra , which was changed to Łysica in 1947 . Both names are translations of the German name. In 1958 it was changed to Krynica Morska , as the place is still called today. This designation has been newly created and has no reference to the historical name.
Until 1991, Krynica Morska was part of Gmina Sztutowo ( Stutthof ). By resolution of the Council of Ministers, the place was separated from the municipality and at the same time elevated to the status of city. Since the Elbląg Voivodeship was dissolved in 1998, Krynica Morska has belonged to the Pomeranian Voivodeship .
traffic
The city is located on Voivodeship Road 501 ( droga wojewódzka 501 ) from Gdańsk to Piaski. There are ferry connections in the port of Krynica Morska over the Fresh Lagoon to Frombork ( Frauenburg ) and Elbląg ( Elbing ). Towards the end of the Second World War, a narrow-gauge railway was built from Stutthof over the Fresh Spit to Alt Tief , which was largely destroyed by the Red Army at the end of the war. The line was initially rebuilt and used by the Polish Navy until 1953. After that, the line was closed after a road was built.
