Jules Janssen Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jules Janssen Prize (Prix Jules-Janssen) is the highest award of the French Society for Astronomy Société astronomique de France . First awarded in 1897 and then awarded annually, the Jules Janssen Prize is awarded alternately to French astronomers and astronomers of other nationalities.

The Jules Janssen Prize is awarded independently of the Janssen Medal (first published in 1886), which is issued by the French Academy of Sciences . Both awards are named after the French astronomer Pierre Janssen (1824–1907) - also known as Jules Janssen  .
