The Probsteiburg is a settlement and workshop for disabled people in the district of Immenrode , part of the city of Goslar .

geography

The Probsteiburg is located immediately north of the Oker , which has created a characteristic landscape characterized by gravel - the Steinfeld - in its surrounding area . The gravel ponds on the eastern bank of the Oker (the Galm ) testify to the abundance of rocks in the soil; the area is designated as Okertal south of Vienenburg as a nature reserve, dirt roads lead into the area.

The plant is located directly on the southern border of the Immenröder district, which merges southeast of the Oker into the Harlingeröder district and thus into the area of the city of Bad Harzburg . It never represented a geopolitically independent unit.

traffic

The district road K 25 (Immenrode - Harlingerode) runs through the Probsteiburg . It connects the federal highway 241 ( Hohenwepel bei Höxter - Goslar - Vienenburg) running immediately to the north with the state road L 518 (Oker - Vienenburg). Southeast of the Probsteiburg is the exit GS-Oker of the autobahn-like, four-lane federal road 6 , which leads in an easterly direction to the federal autobahn 369 .

history

The history of the Probsteiburg before modern times is unclear. Early forms of name such as "Provestingheborch" have been handed down, and in 1811 a map mentions "Probbsterburg". The current spelling established itself from 1907.

From the late 19th century the Probsteiburg was a wood pulp factory that was operated through a ditch from the Oker. At the turn of the century it was transferred to the Klages company in Harlingerode. The wood pulp plant ran until the end of the Second World War .

After 1945, the business was weakened considerably by the division of Germany . The production of quilts represented the most important tax income for the agricultural community of Immenrode. In the 1950s, mainly people who had been expelled from their homeland and the informal settlement of Steinfeld worked for the community of Harlingerode on Probsteiburg. Due to long transport routes and market saturation, the company filed for bankruptcy in 1970.

The Probsteiburg has been the seat of Lebenshilfe Goslar since spring 1972.

In 2015, a new, handicapped accessible bus stop was built in the Probsteiburg. The total costs amounted to around 175,000 euros and construction lasted until November 20, 2015.
