Jürgenohl is a district of Goslar am Harz with about 9000 inhabitants. The district, to which Kramerswinkel also belongs, is a residential district north of the old town of Goslar and the Georgenberg district .

history

After the Second World War, the Jürgenohl district was largely built on the former runway of the Goslar air base as a planned new settlement for people displaced from the east . With the exception of Kramerswinkel, all streets are named after cities in Pomerania, Silesia, East Prussia and the Sudetenland:

The St. Georg daycare center on Elbinger Weg also belongs to it .

In 1960 a Catholic congregation was founded in Jürgenohl , initially the services took place in the auditorium of the Georgenberg School. In 1964 the foundation stone for the St. Benno Church in Marienburger Strasse was laid, and in 1965 it was consecrated by the Apostolic Nuncio of Germany, Corrado Bafile . The church has been a branch church of the parish of St. Jakobus d. Ä. in Goslar. To the north of the church is the Catholic St. Benno day care center.
