Sudmerberg is a district of Goslar in the Lower Saxony district of Goslar am Harz . It has 2000 inhabitants.

Geographical location

Sudmerberg is located in the Harz Nature Park . It spreads west of the Sudmerberg ( 355  m above sea  level ) between the Goslar core city in the south-west and the Goslar districts Ohlhof in the north-north-west and Oker in the south-east. Federal road 6 leads past the border to Ohlhof . The Abzucht flows along the southern edge of the district .

history

In April 1935, the city council of Goslar passed the development plan for the Sudmerberg area . On December 12, 1936, the first citizens moved into their houses and apartments. During the Second World War the building was idle. From 1948 onwards, numerous refugee families found their new accommodation in Sudmerberg. In anticipation of numerous new residents, the decision was made to build the Sudmerberg School that year, which was inaugurated in 1950. A small sandstone quarry was operated on Sudmerberg until around 1960 .

Sights and clubs

  • The fountain on the market square contains a chunk of ore from the Rammelsberg ore mine . The sculpture called Girl with the Water Umbrella was made by the artist Anna Barth from Sankt Andreasberg .
  • From the Sudmerberg tower on the Sudmerberg , the view falls over the city of Goslar, the Harz foreland and the Brocken .
  • The fanfare group Goslar Sudmerberg, now Powerbrass Sudmerberg , was founded in 1965.

Religions

Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Peter

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Peter was built on Nussanger in 1972, the parish hall in the 1950s. In 1969 the St. Peter kindergarten on the eastern edge of Sudmerberg was inaugurated. Today the parish belongs to the Provost Goslar.

The Catholic Church of St. Barbara was built in 1969. In 2006 the church was profaned , at last it belonged to the parish of St. Jakobus the Elder in Goslar. Today the closest Catholic churches are in the neighboring villages of Goslar, Jürgenohl and Oker.

A Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses is located on the western edge of Sudmerberg.
