The Protestant Church Breitfurt is the parish church of the Protestant parish in Breitfurt in the Saarland in the church district ( deanery ) Zweibrücken of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

history

The church is the successor to a chapel built in the 15th century , which fell into disrepair by 1624. In 1724, today's church building was built, using components from the previous building. In 1792 the architect and agricultural director Friedrich Gerhard Wahl ( Zweibrücken ) carried out a restoration . In 1822 the church was extended to the north and a roof turret was built. In 1927, a gallery was built in as part of a further restoration . Further restorations took place in 1948, 1970–1971 and 2000.

organ

In 1952 the Hugo Mayer Orgelbau company ( Saarbrücken-Brebach ) built an organ that may have been Hugo Mayer's first organ that he had built as a representative of the Walcker company in Saarland. In 2003 a new building took place, reusing the prospectus and the pipework by Peter Ohlert ( Kirkel ). The side-playing instrument built into the gallery parapet has 8 registers distributed over 1 manual and pedal as well as mechanical slide drawers
