The Laberinto district is located in the Tambopata province in the Madre de Dios region in southeastern Peru . The district was formed on September 7, 1994 from parts of the Tambopata district. It extends over an area of ​​2678 km². The 2017 census counted 6,283 inhabitants. In 2007 the population was 4780. The district administration is located in the small town of Puerto Rosario de Laberinto, which is about 200  m high and has 4235 inhabitants (as of 2017). Puerto Rosario de Laberinto is located 45 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Puerto Maldonado .

Geographical location

The Laberinto district is located in the Amazon lowlands in the west of the Tambopata province. The Río Los Amigos forms the southwestern boundary of the district. The Río Madre de Dios flows east through the eastern part of the district .

The Laberinto district borders in the south on the Inambari district , in the southwest on the Madre de Dios district ( Manu province ) and in the north and east on the Tambopata district.
