history

First mention

In 1454 the place was mentioned for the first time in a document: "One of the farms sacked in the Bergisch raids is zom Poel."

Spelling of the first mention: zom Poel

Puhl owes its name to the still existing village pond, the Pfuhl. To this day there are still two farms in the village. Eight half-timbered houses from the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved. The population has hardly changed since 1850.
