action
British transport planes carrying highly classified material on behalf of the government are being tested. But the test aircraft regularly disappear with the crew. Nobody can explain it, including Major Hammond from military intelligence and his sister Kay, who works as an undercover reporter in the base canteen, are puzzled.
Hammond begins his research at the factory that makes the aircraft. The company owner regards Hammond with suspicion, but he can make friends with the so-called aviator ace Tony McVane. Hammond suspects that Secretary Jenkins is a foreign agent. But before the planned arrest, Jenkins is killed by a sniper. McVane meets Kay at the same time that he falls in love. Kay tries to extract information from McVane because she believes in a big story, but McVane does not get involved.
When McVane does a test flight, his machine is brought down by a mysterious beam emanating from an equally mysterious foreign ship. McVane is captured by the ship's crew and discovers many of his missing comrades on the ship. Together with them, they can break out and take control of the ship. Hammond is notified and the Royal Navy has the pilots brought ashore. On land it turns out that Hammond's long-time girlfriend has married.
