Quastenberg is a district of the town of Burg Stargard in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

geography

The place is located two kilometers east-northeast of the town of Burg Stargard and eight kilometers southeast of Neubrandenburg in a terminal moraine area east of Lake Tollensee . The neighboring towns are Kreuzbruchhof in the north, Dewitz in the east, Teschendorf in the southeast, Sabel in the southwest and Bargensdorf and Lindenhof in the northwest.

history

In the year 1316 that meeting took place near the place in which the Margrave Waldemar lost 60 of his knights as prisoners. This happened while retreating from an unsuccessful attack on Riepke, five kilometers to the south . The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1333. It is recorded under the name "Quastenberge".

On July 1, 1961, the previously independent community of Quastenberg was incorporated into the town of Burg Stargard and became a district there.

The Quastenberg village church has been included in the list of monuments of the Mecklenburg Lake District.
