Quinta Feira ( Portuguese quinta-feira 'Thursday' , the band's rehearsal day ) is a percussion band from Hamburg with artistic direction by Paul Lazare and management by Lazaremusic.

history

Quinta Feira was founded in 1993 by Paul Lazare. It emerged from several drum lessons groups, including the former children's group "Abacaxí", which today makes up a large part of the cast.

Quinta Feira received first attention when she spontaneously took over the concert from the Brazilian band Timbalada in the Hamburg factory , because they had canceled their performance at short notice while the guests were waiting in the concert hall. Numerous appearances and festivals followed. From 1996 to 2000, the band and vocals with the Brazilian singer Anne Morena for Brazilian cover songs and own songs by Paul Lazare and saxophonist Lieven Brunckhorst ( Jan Delay ) were added. Since 2001, Quinta Feira has been performing as a pure percussion formation again, often with guests.

Music genre

At Quinta Feira you can often find sambareggae in arrangements and original compositions by Paul Lazare, inspired by Afro-Brazilian rhythms. A typical element are catchy melodies on differently tuned bass drums ( surdos ). The arrangements are always danceable, even if they are partly based on ritual rhythms of Candomblé . A high proportion of improvisation with a lot of soloism characterizes the performances of Quinta Feira. Paul Lazare conducts the band like an orchestra and also uses a sophisticated sign language to create new arrangements during a performance.

With 4 to 20 drummers, the samba band plays arrangements with a high proportion of dance in a show and party-oriented performance. The band often appears mobile and without a stage. The shows often include animation or are even designed to be interactive, right through to drum workshops for team building , in which up to 2,500 guests receive a drum and together form a large band.

Drum workshops for team building

Drum workshop with Quinta Feira

Since 2000 Quinta Feira has been doing team building in various forms. The drum workshop serves as motivation and the shared emotional experience in a small team or in a large group of employees. Concrete team situations are mapped and development opportunities are presented musically, e.g. B. in company mergers or other restructuring. Creativity training, management training, communication and many other topics also find their musical analogy in the percussion orchestra and are experienced and worked on in Quinta Feira's drum workshop. Typical areas of application are kick-offs, conferences, seminars, incentives and measures of organizational development or change management .

A flash mob with Airbus employees at the airshow in Farnborough , UK in 2012 caused a sensation, as did the workshop for the Randstad anniversary in Hanover 2010 with many people: 2,500 participants were present.

Drum workshops for incentive trips regularly ensure that Quinta Feira is deployed around the world ( Atlanta , Moscow , Dubai , Rome , Budapest , Seville , Antalya , Florida , London  ...).
