Quirin Weber (born December 30, 1693 in Dachau , † February 10, 1751 in Dachau) was a German organ builder .

life and work

Weber was the son of the glazier Martin Weber from Indersdorf . On October 25, 1713, he married Appolonia Dauscher from Munich, who gave birth to two daughters. In 1714 he received citizenship in Dachau.

So far it has not been possible to clarify where Weber received his training as an organ builder. He is known to have built several new organs from 1719 onwards.

A letter of recommendation has been received from Count Carl von und zu Haimhausen, for whom he built an organ for the castle chapel in 1736 : "According to Vorzaiger diss Quirinus Weberburger: And organ maker in Dachau in my castle chapels all here a completely new organ with 8 registers: And aufsezt, that is, I then produced such a work of art that, thanks to the sharp revision made: And the slightest resolution could not have been made by any means through the problem held; ... " .

In 1738 he submitted a cost estimate for a new organ with 24 registers for the Peterskirche in Munich . In the new building, however, the Munich-based Ignaz Philipp Hildebrand came to the fore, who previously defamed him as follows: "... that the Dachau man is not a trained organ maker, but a glazier who handles the organ, where he only attacked organ making after he started the glazing so badly spoiled that he even had to sell a house and tools he had had. "

In fact, however, Weber died as a respected citizen in 1751.
