history

The court of a Conradi de Quirinbach is mentioned in a document on the property of the provost of Oberpleis from 1218 . Quirrenbach belonged to the Oberhau honors , one of the last five honors that made up the Oberpleis parish in Blankenberg until the dissolution of the Duchy of Berg in 1806. In the topographical survey of the Rhineland , completed in 1828 , the place was named Querenbach . Until 1845/46 Quirrenbach was part of the cadastral or tax community of Oberhau in the administrative district of the mayor's office in Oberpleis , when it was incorporated with Oberhau into the newly formed municipality of Oberpleis.

Since 1790 the school lessons for the children of the upper house took place in Quirrenbach, first in the "Gilgen'schen Haus" and since 1820 in a newly built school building. In 1876 a Catholic elementary school was finally set up in Eudenbach and the Quirrenbach school was closed. The Siegburg - Rostingen railway line operated by the Bröltalbahn ran south of the village from 1902 to 1951 . The Quirrenbach train station was on the corner of Bahnweg and Kochbacher Strasse. In 2013 an information board was put up there. The Egmont mines ( iron , copper and zinc ores ) and Zur Schöne Aussicht (lead, zinc, iron and sulfur ores ), some of which are located in the middle of the town, were of economic importance .

The Quirrenbach men's choir has existed since 1906 . In 1927 the Dohle department store was founded in Quirrenbach and is now based in Siegburg .
