Soviet championship

The club was founded in 1968 as Awangard . In the Soviet championship , the club played mostly in the lowest leagues. The best result was achieved in 1981 with the 13th place in the 3rd division.

Kazakh football championship

Since Kazakhstan's independence in 1991, the club has played in the country's top football division . In 1992, the team took the disappointing 19th place in the first edition of the Kazakh league and was dissolved. From 1993 to 1997, the club did not take part in the game operation of the Kazakh league due to financial difficulties. In 1998 the club was re-established and included in the second division, where fourth place and the associated promotion could be achieved. The three following seasons were the most successful in the history of the team. In 1999, the team won the runner-up with four points behind Irtysh Pavlodar . In the 2000 season, the club had to be content with the runner-up again when the decisive game in the Almaty central stadium for first place was lost 2-0 against the Schenis Astana , as the two teams finished the regular season with equal points. In addition, the team was in the final of the Kazakh Cup, which was lost 5-0 to Kairat Almaty . The team finished the next season in third place. Stadion

The club plays its home games in the 12,000-seat Awangard Stadium. In the 2008 season , the Awangard Stadium was the most visited stadium in the Kazakh Premier League .
