Overview map of the Beaujolais wine-growing region including the ten crus

The French wine region Régnié is one of the ten Cru des Beaujolais . The area received on December 20, 1988 the status of an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC for short). The 752 hectares of vineyards are in the communal areas of Régnié-Durette and Lantignié (this commune only accounts for 5.93 hectares) in the Rhône department . The zone is located at an altitude of 300 to 500  m about 30 km southwest of the city of Mâcon . The Régnié area is the youngest of the Beaujolais cru and is located between Morgon in the north and Brouilly in the south. Its locations are among the highest and most westerly of all Crus.

This is where red wines are made from the Gamay grape variety , which are lighter and smoother than most other Beaujolais crus. The wines are made with the traditional carbon dioxide maceration. This method of winemaking is slow and unsuitable for making Beaujolais Nouveau, but it does make significantly better wines.

After storing for three to five years, Régnié should be enjoyed at a drinking temperature of 13–15 ° C.

A bottle of Régnié usually costs four to seven euros. The municipality has set up the Caveau des Deux Clochers cellar in the immediate vicinity of the church, where a wide range of regional wines can be tasted and bought.

The other Beaujolais cru wines are Brouilly , Chénas , Chiroubles , Côte de Brouilly , Fleurie , Juliénas , Moulin à Vent , Morgon and Saint-Amour .
