history
Around 1900, Rørvig , which was shaped by fishing , became a better known excursion and holiday destination, with artists from Copenhagen initially visiting the place. Later the upper citizenship of the Danish capital followed. The first holiday homes were built in the vicinity of Rørvig, near Korshage and Skansehage . From the 1950s to the 1980s, the holiday home settlements were greatly expanded, so that today they are largely characteristic of the landscape and surroundings of Rørvig.
port
The port of Rørvig is mainly a leisure and fishing port, but there is also a ferry connection from Hundested-Rørvig Færgefart to Hundested seven kilometers east. Especially in the summer months, the port is a meeting place for tourists. Crab fishing from the mole using fish waste and nets is popular with children .
Buildings
Older houses of boatmen's families and farmhouses have been preserved in the area around the town's market square. The Church of Rørvig (Rørvig Kirke) is located outside the town. There is a restored windmill south of the village. At the harbor is the listed Lotzenzunftmeisterhof , which dates back to the 17th century and is now used as a hotel and restaurant. The geographical center of Denmark is located about one kilometer north of Rørvig . Located at Løkkemosevej , it is marked with a large stone.
In Rørvig there is a brewery called Rørvig Bryghus .
