Ragnar Jóhannsson (born October 24, 1990 in Selfoss ) is an Icelandic handball player . The left-hander plays in the Bergisches HC in the right back area.

Career

Ragnar Jóhannsson initially played for UMF Selfoss in his hometown . In the 2010/11 season he was the most successful goalscorer in Iceland's second-highest division with 174 goals. He was then signed by the Icelandic first division club FH Hafnarfjörður .

At the request of TVH coach and compatriot Aðalsteinn Eyjólfsson , the 1.90 m tall backcourt player was directed by FH Hafnarfjörður to the then second division handball team TV 05/07 Hüttenberg in Central Hesse at the beginning of 2015 . Although Hüttenberg subsequently relegated to the 3rd division, he took over the position in the right backcourt and returned with the team to the 2nd Bundesliga a year later. Another successful season for the Icelandic and Central Hesse team brought the club up to the 1st handball league in the summer of 2017.

For the 2019/20 season, Jóhannsson moved to the first division club Bergischer HC .
