David Schmidt (born October 19, 1993 in Karlsruhe ) is a German handball player who plays for Bergischer HC .
Career
David Schmidt began his career in his hometown at HSG Ettlingen Bruchhausen and played for the Rhein-Neckar Löwen from 2008 , first in the club's youth teams and later in the second team. In the 2012/13 season, the 1.90 meter tall back player was also part of the Löwen Bundesliga squad, with whom he won the EHF Cup in 2013. In summer 2015 he moved to the second division TSG Friesenheim , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2017. In summer 2018 he moved to TVB 1898 Stuttgart , which he left after the end of the 2019/20 season and moved to Bergischer HC .
Christian Prokop nominated him for the extended squad for the European Handball Championship 2020 . After Franz Semper's short-term failure , he was appointed to the final EM squad and played his first international match in the preparatory game against Iceland on January 4, 2020.
