Raimund Schreier
Raimund Schreier OPraem (born December 29, 1952 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian Premonstratensian and 55th Abbot of Wilten Abbey . Since 2017 he has also been the Grand Prior of the Austrian Lieutenancy of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
Life
Raimund Schreier grew up in Völs. He stepped on September 13, 1971, the canon community of Norbertine at. In 1972 he made his profession and was ordained a priest on May 19, 1977 after his philosophical and theological training . He worked as a cantor and religion teacher at the Amras elementary school, at the secondary school in Wilten and at the Pedagogical Academy (PÄDAK) as well as at the Academic Gymnasium Innsbruck Angerzellgasse , one of the oldest schools in the German-speaking area . He also worked as a spiritual director in the Norbertinum Student Convict of Wilten Abbey and as administrator and rector of the Wilten Boys' Choir .
In 1992 he was elected 55th Abbot of the Premonstratensian Monastery of Wilten. The benediction was donated to him on May 29, 1992 by Reinhold Stecher , Bishop of Innsbruck. His motto is “Ut credat mundus - So that the world may believe.” In 2014 he was confirmed in office for a further 12 years. As prelate of Wilten, he is also house, court and hereditary chaplain of the state of Tyrol . He is chairman of the Superior Conference of Men's Orders in the Diocese of Innsbruck .
He is a member of the Catholic secondary school associations K.Ö.St.V. Teutonia zu Innsbruck and K.Ö.St.V Amelungia zu Innsbruck in the MKV and the student association AV Austria Innsbruck in the ÖCV .
Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem
Schreier is committed to numerous social projects in the Holy Land . In 1996 he was appointed Grand Officer of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Cardinal Grand Master Carlo Cardinal Furno and invested by Alois Stöger , Grand Prior of the Order in Austria. From 1996 to 2017 Schreier was Prior of the Innsbruck Commandery. On February 28, 2017, Cardinal Grand Master Edwin Frederick O'Brien was appointed Grand Prior of the Austrian Lieutenancy of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.
