Ralf Geisthardt (born April 23, 1954 in Hildburghausen ; † June 23, 2018 ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .
Life and work
From 1960 to 1970 Ralf Geisthardt attended the Polytechnic High School in Hildburghausen and graduated from the Extended High School with the Abitur in 1972 in Schleusingen. From 1972 to 1975 he did his military service in the medical service of the National People's Army (NVA) as a nurse. From 1977 to 1980 he completed his studies in medical education in Potsdam . 1980 to 1983 he worked as a technical college teacher and from 1983 to 1990 he held the post of deputy head of the company academy (health care department) in the district of Haldensleben .
After reunification , he was approved as a naturopath in 1993. From 1999 to 2002 he was head of department for administrative modernization and organization in the district office of the Ohrekreis . In 2003, after taking part in the salaried staff course II, he obtained a master's degree in public management (public service management).
Ralf Geisthardt was an honorary member of the state horse breeding association Brandenburg-Anhalt and the district fire brigade association Ohrekreis and took over the office of state chairman of the protection association German forest since December 2005 . From 1994 to 1998 he was vice-president and since 1998 president of the district sports association Ohrekreis. After the new district merger, he held the office of President of the Borde district sports association. Ralf Geisthardt was Colonel in the Reserve of the Central Medical Service of the Bundeswehr and holder of the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor in silver. In addition, as a contemporary witness of the reunification, he was actively involved in the contemporary witness portal “20 Years of Peaceful Revolution and German Unity”. He was married and the marriage had three children.
Geisthardt died in June 2018 at the age of 64 after a long illness.
Politics and party
Geisthardt joined the GDR CDU in 1983 and was represented in the People's Chamber for the party in 1990 . Here he was deputy chairman of the Volkskammer special committee to control the dissolution of the Stasi. From 1994 to 2010 he was a member of the municipal council in Bülstringen , since then in the Flechtingen municipal council , from 1994 to 1999 and from 2004 a member of the Ohrekreis district and since 2007 a member of the Bördekreis district . On February 22, 2017, he was elected chairman of the Börde district council.
MP
In the first two electoral terms from 1990 to 1998 and since the fourth electoral term in 2002, he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . In December 1990, in the first electoral term, he replaced Michael-Andreas Heinemann in the state parliament. Since November 15, 2011, he has been chairman of the committee for federal and European affairs and a member of the committee for food, agriculture and forestry as well as a deputy in the petitions committee. Since 2006 he has been the officer in charge of matters relating to the Bundeswehr and civil defense. Since May 1, 2015, Geisthardt was an alternate member of the Committee of the Regions in Brussels and represented the country in the CIVEX Commission. For him moved Eduard Jantos from the Mansfeld-Südharz by the state parliament.
