Ralf Regitz
Ralf Regitz (born June 8, 1964 in Saarbrücken ; † January 19, 2011 in Berlin ) was a German organizer .
Life
Regitz grew up in Markdorf in Baden-Wuerttemberg and moved to Berlin in 1983 after graduating from high school at the Bildungszentrum (BZM) . He started at the Technical University of Berlin , a study architecture and later was managing director of advertising and event GmbH Planetcom .
Regitz was considered an activist of the early techno scene in Berlin and was involved in the Ufo Club , which was founded by Dimitri Hegemann , who later operated the safe . In 1993 he co-founded the Berlin club E-Werk , which shaped the Berlin techno scene. Events such as the Chromapark exhibitions and his work as the organizer of the Love Parade made the Berlin techno scene known to a broad public. Regitz played a major role in the expansion of the Love Parade into a mass event and became a formative figure on the German techno scene. In 2001 the Love Parade's status as a demonstration was revoked. Due to different opinions about the future direction of the event, there was a break between Regitz and the former managing director of Loveparade GmbH, Fabian Lenz . As Regitz advocated a more commercial orientation of the event, the collaboration with the inventor of the Love Parade, Dr. Moth apart.
Regitz later ran Café Moscow . In 2011 he died unexpectedly at the age of 46.
