Ralph Erbar

Ralph Erbar (born December 19, 1960 in Koblenz ) is a German historian , history teacher and educator .

Life

Erbar studied history , German literature and philosophy at the University of Mainz and was established in 1990 in Winfried Baumgart with a dissertation on the administrative and economic history of the German colony of Togo to Dr. phil. PhD.

Today he works as a technical manager of History at the State Study Seminar for teachers at high schools in Bad Kreuznach , a teacher at the private school in Hildegardis Bingen and Teacher of Didactics history in the workspace history didactics of the History Department of the University of Mainz.

Ralph Erbar has been state chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate history teachers association and member of the VGD's main board since 2001. At the same time he was an assessor from 2006 to 2012 and from 2016 to 2018 and from 2012 to 2016 Deputy Federal Chairman of the Federal Executive Board. He is co-founder and editor-in-chief of the magazine Geschichte für heute, published by the Association of German History Teachers .

Advisory boards and memberships

Ralph Erbar is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Remembrance Work in Rhineland-Palatinate and a long-standing member of the state jury in the history competition of the Federal President of the Körber Foundation and the student and youth competition of the State Center for Civic Education Rhineland-Palatinate . He is also a founding member and board member of the Mainz community foundation "House of Remembrance - for Democracy and Acceptance".

In 2017 Ralph Erbar was elected chairman of the board of trustees of the state foundation "Grüner Wall im Westen - memorial former Westwall".

Awards

Ralph Erbar received the teaching award from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in the 2010/2011 winter semester.

For his voluntary work, Ralph Erbar was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2017 .
