Bernd Heidenreich

Bernd Heidenreich (born April 29, 1955 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German historian and politician ( CDU ). From 2003 to 2017 he was director of the Hessian state center for political education .

Life

Heidenreich comes from a Frankfurt civil servant family. After graduating from high school in 1976 at the drawing school in Frankfurt am Main, Heidenreich studied history and German at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 1977 to 1981 . He put both state (1981 and 1983) for teachers at secondary schools, and in 1985 when Dieter Kimpel (German Recent Literature) at the Institute for German Language and Literature II with a thesis Sophie von La Roche - a work biography of Dr. phil. PhD.

In 1987 Heidenreich became a policy adviser for the CDU parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament in Wiesbaden . Most recently he was government director . In 1992 he took over the permanent representation of the director of the Hessian state center for political education (leading government director). In 2003 he became director of the regional headquarters himself. From 2001 to 2009 he was a CDU city ​​councilor in Frankfurt . Since 2009 he has (honorary) member of the Municipal Council of the City of Frankfurt am Main. He is assigned to the economically liberal wing of his party and is a member of the medium-sized and business association of the CDU / CSU.

Heidenreich published a number of works on the historical and political geography of Hesse. He is a member of the Hessian Historical Commission in Darmstadt , the Frankfurt Historical Commission , the Commission for Research into the Prehistory and History of Parliamentarism in Hesse, the Advisory Board for Historical Regional Studies in Hesse and the Historical-Archaeological Society Frankfurt am Main as well as Familiare of the Teutonic Order .

In September 2018, Heidenreich and his Protestant colleague Rudolf Kriszeleit were elected chairman of the association that is to prepare and hold the third ecumenical church convention in Frankfurt am Main in 2021.

Heidenreich is married and has two children.

Awards

In 2009 Heidenreich was awarded the Roman plaque in gold from the city of Frankfurt , in 2015 Heidenreich received the Goethe plaque from the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art, and in 2017 the Hessian Order of Merit .
