history

The place was first mentioned in 1290 when Hermann von Wolfershausen and his wife Elisabeth sold their goods to the Bubenbach monastery in Rautenhausen. The church was built around 1592 and stands on a hill in the center of the village.

About 1.75 km east-northeast of the village, on the northern edge of today's district of Rautenhausen, the village of Bubenbach, first recorded in 1230 and desolate in the 15th century, was located in the valley floor near today's forester's house . There was a beguinage there from around 1220 , from which the Bubenbach monastery emerged in 1230. In 1296 the nuns moved to the Cornberg Monastery, which was newly built for them between 1292 and 1296, just 1.5 km further north .

In 1939 Rautenhausen had 164 inhabitants. At that time it belonged to the Rotenburg district . As part of the Hessian territorial and administrative reform , Rautenhausen was incorporated into the city of Bebra on December 31, 1971 .
