Raymond Bouchex

Raymond Joseph Louis Bouchex (born January 25, 1927 in Lugrin , Haute-Savoie , France , † May 9, 2010 in Avignon ) was Archbishop of Avignon .

Life

Raymond Bouchex studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the seminary in Annecy and received on 3 June 1950, the priestly ordination . After further studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and at the Institut Catholique de Lyon he became a doctor of theology doctorate . He worked for the media work of the Catholic Action and for the Association catholique de la jeunesse française (JIC), from 1955 their national chaplain.

In 1962 he became professor of theology at the Annecy seminary and in 1965 took over responsibility for the formation of the clergy.

On February 23, 1972, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Elvas and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in the archdiocese of Aix . The episcopal ordination donated him the Bishop of Annecy , Jean-Baptiste-Étienne Sauvage , on March 19, 1972; Co-consecrators were Joseph Duval , auxiliary bishop in Rennes , and René-Alexandre Dupanloup , auxiliary bishop in Nice . At 45, he was the youngest bishop in France.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on April 25, 1978 Archbishop of Avignon . Within the French Bishops' Conference he was involved in the Episcopal Commission for Consecrated Life, in the Board of the Commission for Dogmatic Studies, in the Committee for Pastoral and Sacramental Liturgy and in the Episcopal Commission for Christian Unity.

His age-related resignation was granted on June 21, 2002 by Pope John Paul II . He continued to work in hospital chaplaincy at the Center Hospitalier (CHS) in Montfavet .
