The Razenbach is a creek almost one and a half kilometers long in the Großaltdorf district of the small town of Vellberg in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows from the right into the middle Aalenbach after a south-south- eastern course near the east of the village of Großaltdorf .

geography

course

The Razenbach arises at about 420  m above sea level. NHN on the south side of a field path going east from the K 2668 Ilshofen - Oberaspach - Großaltdorf, which separates the Aspacher Höhe Gewann in the north from the Aspacher Wegäcker and Gründle Gewannen in the south. Between these last two troughs, the creek ditch runs quite flat and in very elongated meandering on its first half of the course to the south, whereby on the second part of this section the Gewann Ratzenbach (!) Follows the Gründle on the left . The course of the stream between large, field-cleared fields remains completely free of trees or bushes on the bank.

After this stretch, the brook crosses another dirt road going east from the county road and then turns to the southeast. It is now beginning to deepen itself. After a further quarter of its run, first between Lander fields on the right and Bockäckern on the left, then under the Crailsheim – Heilbronn railway line , through a small wood and again under a farm road parallel to the railway line, there are now two small ponds on the left, where the small round one A historic pumping station is under construction. Opposite this, about a hundred meters away, the settlement boundary of Großaltdorf follows parallel to the stream. Before the east of the Großaltdorfer settlement area the Razenbach flows out at 393.3  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the middle Aalenbach , less than a hundred meters before the tributary of the Zimmerbach from the other side.

The Razenbach flows after about 1.4 km with a mean bottom gradient of around 20 ‰ about 27 meters below its origin at the Aspacher Höhe.

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Razenbach is about 0.8 km² and, in terms of natural space , is located in the lower area of the Haller level of the Hohenloher and Haller level . It is a on the northern watershed on the Aspacher Höhe, which appears little prominent from the south, up to about 429  m above sea level. NHN high, largely occupied by large land-cleared fields, which, apart from a tiny marginal strip there in the north, which belongs to the Unteraspach district of Ilshofen , lies entirely within the boundaries of the Großaltdorf district of Vellberg . Part of the northeastern extension of the village Großaltdorf, which was added in the second half of the 20th century, protrudes in the southwest into the otherwise completely unpopulated catchment area.

This is surrounded in turn by the catchment areas of the following neighboring waters:

  • In the north, behind the Aspacher Höhe, the Hohteichbach flows westwards to the Schmerach ;
  • in the east the Emersbach drains off the Razenbach to the Aalenbach , which, like the Schmerach further down, is a right tributary of the Bühler ;
  • beyond the short southwestern watershed through the Großaltdorf, which also slopes down into a hollow towards the Aalenbach, there are no open tributaries to it;
  • in the west is the headwaters of the stream through the Kappisklinge , which leads to the Bühlertal;
  • in the northwest lies the headwaters of the Finsterbach , a tributary in turn the Schmerach.

Tributaries and lakes

Origin of the Razenbach at about 420  m above sea level. NHN on the field path between the rivers Aspacher Höhe and Aspacher Wegäcker or .. Gründle . The stream initially flows roughly southwards.

  • (Ditch from the country fields ), from the right and west-southwest to about 413  m above sea level. NHN between the bend in the run and the railway line, approx. 0.5 km and a little over 0.1 km². Arises at about 409  m above sea level. NHN on the dirt road between the Rappensee and Lander fields .
  • RiverIcon-SmallLake.svgPassed at about 400  m above sea level. A little after the Bazhn stretch two ponds at the old pumping station on the left side of the river, together less than 0.1 ha.

Mouth of the Razenbach from the right and finally northwest to 393.3  m above sea level. NHN about a hundred meters east of the town limit of Großaltdorf in the middle Aalenbach . The stream is 1.4 km long and has a catchment area of around 0.8 km².

geology

In the vast majority of the catchment area there is loess sediment from Quaternary deposits, on the right side of the stream up to the edge of the Aalenbachaue, on the left up to the bend in the middle course. On this side there is Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt Formation ) in the deeper valley , further down the slope and wedging towards the mouth of the Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld Formation ). The Razenbach runs almost from the beginning and to the edge of the Aaalenbachaue, which is occupied by floodplains, in a not very wide strip of alluvial land.

history

According to the first Württemberg map of the region in 1851 at the latest, a documented location of Steffensbach in the middle reaches of the Middle Ages, documented from the High to the Late Middle Ages, was not even mentioned in the relevant Württemberg Oberamtsbeschreibung from 1847. The measuring table from 1937 from the time before the land consolidation does not show the northern part of today's run, but in contrast to today, where the fields extend to the run, it shows a broad strip of meadow around its axis.

The pumping station on the left bank after crossing under the railway line used to serve as a water supply and is now out of order. The measuring table sheet from 1937 draws a spring on the lower slope very close to it.

According to telephone information from the Vellberg city administration (August 2020), the pumping station used to be used for the water supply of Großaltdorf, but has since become inoperative after the city joined the water supply association for Northeast Württemberg. It was not known whether it got its water from the Razenbach or from a spring.
