Tram to Baunatal

Behind the VW-Werk stop, Kassel trams travel on the Kassel-Naumburg railway line connected with the system change from BOStrab to EBO during operation (recognizable by a sign on the signal system)

The RBK was founded on March 28, 1990 - initially under the name Verkehrsunternehmergemeinschaft Baunatal GmbH - with the aim of resuming passenger traffic on the Kassel – Naumburg railway line to Baunatal-Großenritte station and connecting it to the Kassel tram network. On May 28, 1995, operations began with vehicles from both partners. Today the wrong tram 5 and additionally in school transport , the Line 2 . The RBK only provides transport services on these lines as an EVU, i.e. it uses the trams, while the Hessische Landesbahn as an EIU operates the necessary railway systems .

Tram to Hessisch Lichtenau

The Kassel – Waldkappel railway line , on which the Deutsche Bundesbahn discontinued passenger transport in 1985, was gradually expanded from 1997, in particular electrified for operation with "real" trams . With the loop leading closer to the center of Oberkaufungen and the junction to the terminus in the city center of Hessisch Lichtenau , new sections of the route were also built. Since then, RBK has been operating the railway systems on the route in the Lossetal as an EIU and has also been providing transport services on tram line 4 to Helsa since June 10, 2001 and as an EVU since January 2006 to Hessisch Lichtenau. In 2006 and up to July 2007 E / D cars of the RegioTram also operated here, with which express trips were carried out, including by staying on the non-electrified section in Kaufungen .

Previous holdings

RBK held a 49 percent stake in RegioTram Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (RTB) - a joint venture with DB Regio Hessen. RTB was founded in 2007, operated RegioTram Kassel as the EVU and predecessor of RegioTram Gesellschaft mbH (RTG) and was liquidated on December 20, 2013 .
