Rehoboam Kamehozu

Rapama Rehoboam Kamehozu (* 11. September 1948 in Okatokoveru , South West Africa ; † 23. March 2013 in Windhoek ) was a Namibian politician of SWAPO , Regional - Governor and Mayor.

Life path

Kamehozu was born to Rehobeam Uazukuani and Maria Kamehozu and grew up in Grootfontein. In 1965 he graduated from the Augustineum . 1987-1989 studied Kamehozu at Ruskin College in the United Kingdom on teaching .

In 1977 Kamehozu married in Lüderitz . Two years later he was arrested under the apartheid laws and was imprisoned in Gobabis for 14 months .

From 2004 to 2010 Kamehozu was Mayor of Grootfontein. He then led the Otjozondjupa region as governor under President Hifikepunye Pohamba until 2012 , and was governor of the Omaheke region until his death in 2013 .

Kamehozu died in 2013 in Windhoek on cancer . He left behind his wife and six children.
