Laura McLeod-Katjirua

Laura McLeod-Katjirua (* 1960 or 1961 South West Africa ) is a Namibian politician of SWAPO and Regional - Governor .

Since 2012 McLeod-Katjirua governor of the Khomas region . Until then, she had been the first woman to run the Omaheke region since 2001 . From December 2012 to 2017 she held the fourth-highest position in SWAPO as General Secretary.

McLeod-Katjirua has been a member of the supervisory board of the Namibian brewery Namibia Breweries since April 2, 2012 .

Life path

McLeod-Katjirua grew up in Gobabis . In 1975 she went into exile in Zambia , where she finished her school career in 1978 at the Nyango Education Center . She then did a tertiary degree in public administration at the United Nations Institute for Namibia in Lusaka . She then studied there until 1982 at the National Institute for Public Administration for teaching .

After completing her training, McLeod-Katjirua moved to Angola , Botswana and the GDR before returning to South West Africa in 1989. From then on she worked as an agricultural technician .

McLeod-Katjirua has two children.
