The Reichstag constituency Pfalz (Bavaria) 5 was a constituency for the Reichstag elections in the German Empire from 1868 to 1918.
General
The Reichstag constituency Palatinate (Bavaria) 5 (also called Reichstag constituency Homburg-Kusel) comprised the cities of Homburg and Kusel as well as the surrounding district offices . The constituency had an area of 977.95 square kilometers and in 1871 87,528 inhabitants (88.50 inhabitants / km²). In 1910 the population was 121,579 (124.32 inhabitants / km²). Confessionally, the proportion of Protestants was significantly higher than that of Catholics. In 1871 (1910) the proportion of Catholics was 32.2% (35.7%) and that of Protestants 66.8% (63.7%). The constituency was rural. 77.4% of the population lived in places with fewer than 2000 inhabitants.
