Reiner Schmitz

Reiner Schmitz (* 1947 in Kaarst-Holzbüttgen ) is a former headmaster , former holder of various positions in church and state school administration and former state councilor of the authority for education and sport in Hamburg .

Career and life

Schmitz studied German , history , education and philosophy in Freiburg im Breisgau . He received his doctorate with a dissertation on Immanuel Kant in 1972 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . He completed his legal clerkship in Hamburg.

Schmitz is married and has four children and two grandchildren.

Act

After his legal clerkship, Schmitz worked as a teacher at the Christianeum in Hamburg-Othmarschen . In 1982 he became headmaster at the Kaiser-Friedrich-Ufer grammar school . Schmitz became the first secular headmaster of the Sankt Ansgar School in Hamburg-Borgfelde in 1993 after the Jesuits left . He was replaced in 1995 by Marino Freistedt .

From this year he became head of the “secondary school sub-department” in the school department of the Hamburg school authority; In 1997 he became the head of the "Department of School Supervision and School Advice" and deputy state school board member and at the same time remained the head of the "Secondary Schools Division". In 2002 he left the civil service and became head of the Catholic Education Office of Hamburg's Catholic parishes.

Schmitz became State Councilor of the Education Authority in March 2004. The First Mayor Ole von Beust announced on December 8, 2005 that the previous State Councilor Schmitz would be released from his duties on December 31, 2005. No reasons were given. The collaboration between the non-party Schmitz and his Senator Alexandra Dinges-Dierig ( CDU ) was not considered harmonious.
