Reiner Zimnik (born December 13, 1930 in Beuthen / Upper Silesia as Reinhard Karl Zimnik ; † December 8, 2021 in Munich ) was a German draftsman , painter and writer .

Life

Reiner Zimnik was the son of an official. He completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter, which he completed in 1949 with the journeyman's examination. He then attended a grammar school in Landshut , where he passed his school leaving examination in 1952. From 1952 to 1956 he studied painting and graphics with Professor Josef Oberberger at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.

Reiner Zimnik became known as the author of stories for children and adults, in which modern themes, romantic-fairytale style and the author's pen drawings form an unmistakable connection. Above all, the stories about Jonas the Angler , the lonely " Lektro " and the figure of "Sebastian Gsangl" were a great success from the mid-1950s - in the early days of German television - thanks to their broadcast as television stories or drawing stories . Zimnik's friends Kurt Wilhelm , Rolf Alexander Wilhelm and Joachim Fuchsberger contributed direction, music and the spoken word. In 1972 the successful quartet reunited to release a speech record for Deutsche Grammophon with music and illustrations for two modern fairy tales by Zimnik. From the 1980s onwards, Zimnik only worked as a visual artist; Since then, the focus of his work has been nature studies and watercolors .

Reiner Zimnik, who was a member of the Association of German Writers , received ao. 1958 the literary prize of the state capital Munich and the Eichendorff literary prize , 1961 a Villa Massimo scholarship , 1993 the Schwabinger art prize and 1994 the Bavarian poet thaler . He died in December 2021, five days before his 91st birthday, in Munich, where he had lived from the 1950s.
