Reinhard Bergmann was born in Warnemünde in 1950 . After attending the Heinrich Heine School, he learned the painting and varnishing trade from 1965 to 1968. After completing the 18-month military service, he continued his work as a journeyman in the training company. In 1973 he began the master craftsman course.

After its successful completion, Reinhard Bergmann worked as head of the central training center for the Rostock district until 1978 . He studied part-time at the engineering school for civil engineering in Magdeburg and graduated in 1982 as an engineering pedagogue . He completed further studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1988 as a qualified teacher . During his studies he moved to Weißenfels , where he was responsible for training and further education in the local shoe combine until the political change.

Right from the start of his school education, his father sent him to private painting lessons with Robert Langjahr, where he learned the basics and various techniques of painting. This first artistic education was then continued in the painting circle of Armin Münch and Hans-Georg Buggel as his master class at the technical school for applied arts in Heiligendamm.

Reinhard Bergmann was also active in the field of fine arts during his professional education. Numerous activities in the training of young masters as well as 18 years of teaching activity in the field of “stylistics, color theory and design” at private and state educational institutions are evidence of this.

Reinhard Bergmann has been exclusively involved in visual and artistic work since 2008. His specialization is the architectural painting of the Middle Ages, as well as the representations on historical topics. Bergmann prepares the subjects of his painting in extensive and meticulous research. In doing so, he separates fictional stories from historical truth and travels to the actual historical places and objects of his subject. A special feature is that he visited all of the objects from Europe and the Middle East that he depicted in his paintings.

Reinhard Bergmann is a member of the German Castle Association and Europa Nostra .

Works

Castellum incognita , 2001, oil / canvas 50 × 80 cm, from the "Burg Phantas Series"
Moreruela Monastery , 2016, oil / canvas 100 × 60 cm, from the series "Places of the Cistercians"

In the early phase of his work, the Warnemünde-Rostock time, he created graphics and paintings that were characterized by the maritime flair of the Baltic Sea coast with a slight tendency towards blue. After moving to the Saale-Unstrut region, the devotion to warmer colors and the dominance of orange developed.

Today his artistic handwriting is primarily shown in medium-format oil paintings with strong tones. They reflect the realistic environmental forms, but are characterized by his expressionist color choice and fine contour lines. Due to his consistent use of the color orange not only in pictures, but also in his environment, he is also known by the nickname “The Orange Painter”.

For several years now, Reinhard Bergmann has been creating a good 100 paintings a year, which are put together in painting cycles and exhibited throughout Germany.
