Reinhard Hauschild (officer)

Reinhard Hauschild (born April 14, 1921 in Koblenz ; † May 25, 2005 in Bonn ) was a German officer , journalist and writer . He used the pseudonyms Ulrich Mühlenfeld , Harald Müller-Roland , Thomas Ulrich and Lorenz Stahl .

Life

Reinhard Hauschild passed the Abitur at the humanistic Görres-Gymnasium in Koblenz in 1939 . Then he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service . During the Second World War he was a member of the Armored Artillery Regiment 89 of the Wehrmacht , most recently as a first lieutenant in the reserve. During the battle for Stalingrad he fell ill; later he was wounded in East Prussia.

After his return from captivity , he became a journalist for the Frankfurter Neue Presse and the Hessischer Rundfunk . In November 1955 he joined the army of the Bundeswehr . In 1956 he became the first press officer in the Bundeswehr; In the Federal Ministry of Defense he worked for public relations and in the press department. From 1961 he was editor-in-chief and program manager of the radio battalion in Andernach, which later became the troop support broadcaster Radio Andernach . In 1964 he was given leave of absence as head of news at Saarland Broadcasting . From 1969 to 1974 he was commander of the radio battalion / PSK broadcast battalion 701. 1974/75 he was commander of the teaching group and from 1975 to 1980 commander of the Bundeswehr School for Psychological Defense in Euskirchen. He then retired.

During his active service, he was editor of the Bundeswehr Yearbook (1958; Breitkopf & Härtel ) and the Army Yearbook (1967–1979; Bernard & Graefe). In addition to his historical novels with autobiographical parts, he was also the author / editor of non-fiction books about the Bundeswehr and the Second World War, as well as collections of Bundeswehr sayings (see soldiers' language ).

Hauschild belonged to the German Association of Journalists for a while . He then became a member of the Free German Association of Authors . For a time he was state chairman in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as executive vice-president (from 1985) and honorary president of the association (from 1990). In 1985 he founded an FDA writing workshop in Bonn. From 1984 to 1990 he was President of the Economic Policy VCC Club in Bonn, where he last lived. He was the father of three children. On November 18, 2015, the former General-Delius-Kaserne in Mayen was renamed the Oberst-Hauschild-Kaserne .
