Renato Longo

Renato Longo (* 9. August 1937 in Vittorio Veneto ) is a former Italian cyclist , who on cross-country race was dedicated (cyclocross) and competitions dominated in this discipline in the 1960s.

In 1958 Renato Longo was Italian champion of the amateur - stayers and runner-up in the cyclo-cross race. In the following years he successfully concentrated on the cross-country sport. Between 1959 and 1972 Longo was five times world champion and twice vice world champion as well as twelve times Italian champion in this discipline. He also won the cyclocross race in Solbiate Olona eight times and the Critérium Martini in Vincennes four times . In total, he achieved around 230 victories. His big rivals during these years were Rolf Wolfshohl from Cologne and Eric De Vlaeminck from Belgium . In 1972 Longo retired from active cycling.
