Reudnitz-Thonberg is a district of the city of Leipzig . It was created during the municipal reorganization of the city in 1992. It is located southeast of the city center, has number 30 in the district list and belongs to the south-east district. It essentially comprises the districts of Reudnitz and Thonberg .

location

Reudnitz-Thonberg is bordered in the north by Dresdner Strasse, Breiten Strasse, Riebeckstrasse and the former Eilenburg railway line , in the southeast by the Leipzig Hbf – Leipzig-Connewitz railway line , in the southwest by Prager Strasse, Semmelweisstrasse, the eastern border of Friedenspark , the street "Vor dem Hospitaltore" and the Prager Straße as well as in the west of the court route.

In terms of the cadastre , the district includes most of the Reudnitz district , part of the Thonberg district and small parts of the Anger , Stötteritz and Leipzig districts. During the reorganization in 1992, the northern part of Reudnitz north of Dresdner Strasse and the old town center went to the Neustadt-Neuschönefeld district . The old exhibition grounds belonging to the Thonberg district were assigned to the Zentrum-Südost district, the Wilhelm-Külz-Park Probstheida and the area east of Güntzstrasse Stötteritz.

Location characteristics

Reudnitz-Thonberg is - apart from the green areas - predominantly residential and mixed areas . The only larger operation is the Leipziger Brauhaus zu Reudnitz . There are residential buildings from the Wilhelminian era (such as around Riebeckstrasse and Oststrasse), those from the beginning of the 20th century (such as on Holsteinstrasse) and individual prefabricated buildings built during GDR times (such as on Mühlstrasse).

The Lene-Voigt-Park , created in place of the destroyed Eilenburg train station, takes up an area of 7 hectares in the center of the district. Other, smaller parks and green spaces are interspersed in the residential quarters: Stephaniplatz , Reudnitzer Park , Möbius and Alfred-Frank-Platz as well as Cäcilienpark .

On larger traffic arteries, in which the local public transport also takes place, the Prager Straße ( Bundesstraße 2 ; with the tram lines 15 and partly 12 or 2) as well as the Oststraße (with the bus line 60) and the Riebeckstraße (tram 4 and bus line 70) the area, while the Richtsweg and the Dresdner Straße only touch it.

With regard to the population structure, the higher proportion of students (18%), the lower proportion of senior citizens (18.2%) and the relatively low car ratio (235 vehicles per 1000 inhabitants) deviate from the Leipzig average. Young adults between 20 and 35 years of age represent the largest group of the population (42%). The crime rate is slightly above average with 157 registered crimes per 1000 inhabitants.
