August Ludwig Reyscher (born July 10, 1802 in Unterriexingen ; † April 1, 1880 in Cannstatt ) was a German legal scholar , politician and philhellene .

Life

August Ludwig Reyscher was born in 1802 as the son of Maria Charlotta and Karl Ludwig Reyscher in the Unterriexingen rectory. He was the fourth of six children, all of whom were also born in Unterriexingen. His father was a Protestant pastor in the village, his mother, née Lebret (also Le Bret or LeBret), was the daughter of the historian and theologian Johann Friedrich LeBret .

During his studies Ludwig Reyscher became a member of the Germania Tübingen fraternity in 1821 and later a member of the Feuerreiter Tübingen fraternity .

Ludwig Reyscher was appointed full professor for German law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen in 1837 . From 1844 to 1845 he was its rector . Reyscher established himself as a lawyer in Stuttgart in 1851 , and in 1853 he moved his law firm to Cannstatt.

In the course of the March Revolution , Reyscher took part in the pre-parliament in 1848 , from March 31 to April 3, in the Paulskirche in Frankfurt , but could not win a seat in the election to the Frankfurt National Assembly . From 1848 to 1855 he was a member of the Württemberg state parliament for Mergentheim and for Stuttgart from 1855 to 1868. From 1871 to 1872 he was a member of the Reichstag . He won his seat in the Reichstag in the constituency of Württemberg 2 ( Cannstatt , Ludwigsburg , Marbach , Waiblingen ). On May 30, 1872, he resigned from the Reichstag.

On December 24, 1842 he became an honorary citizen of Unterriexingen .

August Ludwig Reyscher was buried in the Steigfriedhof in Stuttgart Bad Cannstatt .
