Emmanuelle Gagliardi (born July 9, 1976 in Geneva ) is a former Swiss tennis player .

Career

Gagliardi is the daughter of a Swiss bank director. However, this should not have supported her in financing her professional career.

She reached her highest position in the world rankings in May 2002 with 42nd place. Her best result in a Grand Slam tournament she achieved in singles in May 2005 when she was in the second round of the French Open . In doubles, she reached the semi-finals once, in 2003 at the Australian Open .

Gagliardi was involved in the longest tiebreak in WTA history: in 1999 she lost the first set in the tiebreak at 19:21 at the tournament in Madrid against Tara Snyder . She then won the following two sets with 6: 1 and 6: 1.

In the Fed Cup between 1997 and 2008 she played 17 singles (10 wins) and 15 doubles (13 wins) for Switzerland .

At the Olympic Games in Sydney she was part of the Swiss tennis team alongside Miroslava Vavrinec .
