As Xrot e is in the Rhätischen path the electrically operated rotary snow plow , respectively.

The steam snow blowers were very costly and labor intensive, in addition, after the outbreak of the Second World War, coal became scarcer. The Berninabahn tried to minimize the use of steam snow blowers and decided in 1940 to build an electric snow blower of its own design in its own workshop in Poschiavo .

The discarded kitchen trolley Xü 31 served as the basis. At one end, two counter-rotating centrifugal wheels, each with a diameter of 1,480 mm and a speed of 322 min −1, were mounted. The two centrifugal wheels are operated by a direct current motor in shunt operation , which was supplied with the full contact line voltage of 1 kV.

The clearance dimensions of 3.1 m wide and 1.6 m high are sufficient to clear the snow with smaller amounts of snow. Even after the Rhaetian Railway took over the Bernina Railway , the vehicle was still in use until 1967. It then served as a replacement and was finally canceled in 1983.
