Richard Müller (architect)
Richard Julius Müller (born February 18, 1877 in Reps , Transylvania , † November 18, 1930 in Dresden ) was a German civil engineer and architect .
Life
From 1896 Müller studied architecture and construction at the TH Budapest , in Hanover and Paris. During his studies in 1897 he became a member of the Germania Hanover fraternity . He completed his architecture studies in 1902 and received his diploma as civil engineer in 1904 from the TH Hannover . From 1904 he worked as a civil engineer at the Aug. Klönne bridge construction company in Dortmund and a year later as a laboratory engineer at Telefunken in Berlin . At the TH Hannover he worked as an assistant for earthworks and road construction and received his doctorate there in 1908 on the subject of new experiments on reinforced concrete beams on the location and the migration of the zero line and the bending of the cross-sections. Tests on pure adhesive strength .
This was followed by employment in various concrete construction companies as an engineer and department head before he became a lecturer and assistant for statics, railway bridges and reinforced concrete construction at the TH Hannover in 1911. In 1911, Müller accepted a call to the Dresden University of Technology , where he taught as a professor for building design in the structural engineering department until 1930 ; at the same time he was director of the collection for building construction theory. In the academic year 1926/1927 he was the rector of the university .
Müller died in Dresden in 1930 and was buried in the Outer Plauen cemetery . At that time his office in Dresden was in Lüttichaustraße 1a, his private residence was in Oberlößnitz the Villa Sonnenhof .
One of his students was Rolf Göpfert .
