Richard Schmundt (born October 5, 1856 in Hirschfeld , † November 10, 1927 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Richard Schmundt was the son of the Prussian senior building officer Gustav Alexander Schmundt (1823–1908) and his wife Karoline Juliane Auguste Schmundt, née. Friederici (1833-1908).

Schmundt was promoted to lieutenant on October 12, 1878 . On July 19, 1913, he became the commander of the fusilier regiment "Prince Heinrich of Prussia" (Brandenburg) No. 35 . He then commanded the 11th Infantry Brigade as a colonel from October 25, 1914 to March 1915 during World War I , which was then reorganized as the 112th Infantry Brigade and which he commanded until the beginning of November 1915. From October 8, 1915 he was in command of the 10th Infantry Brigade. On October 5, 1916 he was promoted to major general and in 1917 put up for disposition as lieutenant general . As a ZD officer, Schmundt was in 1918 commander of the Deputy 1st Infantry Brigade in Tilsit .

On October 3, 1895, he married Hedwig Maria Schmundt, née Seyffardt (* July 5, 1873 in Krefeld ; † April 2, 1962 in Hanover ). The general of the infantry Rudolf Schmundt and the social scientist and anthroposophist Wilhelm Schmundt emerged from the marriage. Richard Schmundt was buried in the Bornstedter cemetery .
