Richard Tomaselli

Richard Tomaselli (born June 2, 1904 in Salzburg ; † June 2, 1981 there ) was an Austrian actor and host.

Life

At the age of 22 Tomaselli made his successful debut in 1926; he was involved in the production of Gustaf Gründgens ' " Don Carlos " at the Salzburg Festival . In the same year he moved to the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and then Max Reinhardt brought him to the German Theater in Berlin . He became famous a. a. for his interaction with colleagues like Erich Ziegel (Hamburg) or Eugen Klöpfer (Berlin).

At the Salzburg Festival in 1933 he was the "pupil" in Max Reinhardt's Faust ; In this staging, the architect Clemens Holzmeister built the Faust city in the Felsenreitschule . After the annexation of Austria in 1938 he became a soldier and was soon taken prisoner by the US. After the war ended, he returned to his hometown.

With the exception of a two-year engagement at the Stadttheater in Kiel , Tomaselli was a member of the Salzburg Stadttheater until he left the stage . In 1969 Tomaselli gave his official farewell performance, but was then seen a few times in smaller roles.

In retirement, Tomaselli opened a restaurant in Salzburg. He has had a close friendship with the writer Georg Rendl since school and he also gave some readings in Tomaselli's restaurant.

Tomaselli died on his 77th birthday and found his final resting place in the Salzburg municipal cemetery .
