Rico Kauerhof (born December 9, 1972 in Wurzen ) is a lawyer and former German soccer player.

Athletic career

Club career

Rico Kauerhof played for VfB Leipzig during his professional career . For Leipzig, he played his first competitive game in the 1991/92 season in the 2nd Bundesliga South . On the 12th matchday, Kauerhof came on for Dirk Anders in the game against FC Carl Zeiss Jena after 89 minutes . In the 1993/94 season he received his only appearance in the Bundesliga on the second match day against VfB Stuttgart . He came on as a substitute for Matthias Liebers after 85 minutes against the Swabians and was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with Leipzig at the end of the season. In total, the former GDR junior national player has a total of six minutes in German league professional football on the balance sheet. Kauerhof was on the ball for another 42 minutes in the German club cup in the third main round of the 1991/92 DFB Cup when the Saxons had to give up the sails at the Stuttgarter Kickers with 1: 3 after extra time.

Selection bets

With the GDR youth selection , the locomotive player took second place at the U-16 European Championship in 1989 . At the World Cup in this age group a few weeks later, the East German team around goalkeeper Frank Rost was eliminated in the quarter-finals, in which Kauerhof started with number 6, against hosts Scotland.

Further career

Kauerhof has been admitted to the bar since January 2005 and currently works for NWK Rechtsanwälte. Also in 2005 he received his doctorate. Kauerhof is chairman of the Institute for German and International Sports Law and holder of other honorary posts in the field of sports law.
