Rido buses

Rido Busse (born August 14, 1934 in Wiesbaden ) is a German designer . He is an honorary professor at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . He also holds teaching positions at the technical colleges for engineers in Ulm and for designers in Munich , Darmstadt , Karlsruhe and Halle . He donated the Plagiarius Negative Prize , which has been awarded to particularly bold plagiarism since 1977 .

education

Busse did an apprenticeship as a silversmith, attended a metal sculptor class at the Werkkunstschule Wiesbaden and the Werkakademie in Kassel. Since 1953 he studied at the Ulm School of Design, in 1959 he graduated with a diploma. He financed his studies with scholarships from the Geschwister-Scholl- and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung . Johannes Itten was one of his teachers .

Companies

In the same year of his graduation, Busse founded the company busse design ulm for product design , which today employs around 45 people and develops products for industry. He managed the company until 1999 and was also available later in an advisory capacity. In 2007 the name was changed to BUSSE Design + Engineering GmbH . The companies received a large number of awards. Among other things, over 100 IF Awards , as well as numerous Red Dot Design Awards and other renowned prizes. The company's managing director since 1963 was his wife Annegret Schröder, who died in an accident in 2002.

Plagiarism

In 1977 Busse launched the negative award Plagiarius for particularly bold plagiarism after he discovered his own product at the Frankfurt consumer goods fair " Ambiente ", which was copied by a Chinese manufacturer.

Longlife Design Awards

In 1978 he founded the Busse Longlife Design Awards , which are awarded every three years to products that have been on the market for more than eight years.

Prices

In 1993 Busse received the design communication award , in 1994 the design award of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and in the following year the award of the trade association for plastic consumer goods. In 1999 he was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Business Medal, which he received for his entrepreneurial performance. In 2010 he received the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2010 he was awarded honorary membership of the German Designer Club for his life's work .

Busse is a member of the supervisory board of Wall AG Berlin and a member of the board of trustees of the Schwäbisch Hall University of Applied Sciences . From 1980 to 1984 he was a member of the executive committee of the Association of German Industrial Designers and was a member of the ASU and VDI. He is a member of the German Werkbund . In 2007 he was a member of the jury for the red dot design award: product design . In addition, Rido Busse has been Chairman of the German Trade and Industry Board since 1994.
