The Riedbach is a mountain stream over 4.8 kilometers long in the Swiss canton of Valais . It is fed by the Ried glacier . The Riedbach is a mountain stream with a level-glacial runoff regime. Daily peak runoffs in summer reach around 4 m.

After exiting the glacier gate of the Ried glacier, the Riedbach flows over a glacier foreland with a channel slope of around 3%. After more than a kilometer it reaches a break in the gradient, the following section has a gradient of around 40%. After a further 500 m, most of the water for electricity generation is collected by Kraftwerke Mattmark AG .

The Riedbach flows north of St. Niklaus Dorf near the hamlet of Riedmatten into the Mattervispa , where it also forms the border to the hamlet of Lochmatten .
