Rinnenthal is a district of Friedberg near Augsburg , in which 847 people have registered their main residence (as of December 31, 2016).

Surname

Rinnenthal means something like "settlement in a railing channel". Another popular theory is that the name comes from the de Rinnentale family who probably had their estates there in the 12th century .

geography

Rinnenthal is located on the Eisbach , not far from its confluence with the Paar (a right tributary of the Danube) and about 6 km east of Friedberg (Bavaria).

history

Rinnental was mentioned for the first time in 1130, but is probably much older. In the Thirty Years' War Rinnenthal was heavily devastated by the Swedes in 1632 . Rinnental was Hofmark around 1500 and from 1643 to 1835 . The Hofmarkschlösschen was demolished in 1835.

Rinnenthal was almost bombed during an air raid on Augsburg in World War II, but the bombs only detonated in the inn's stable and a few hundred meters from the village. The influx of Eastern European refugees that began after the end of the war caused the population to rise from 280 to 435. In the 1960s, Rinnenthal was connected to the sewer system , and lighting was installed for the now asphalted streets . In the course of the municipal reform , Rinnenthal was incorporated into Ottmaring on January 1, 1972 and reclassified to Friedberg as part of the Ottmaring municipality on May 1, 1978.

St. Laurence

St. Laurentius Church

The church was originally called St. Vitus and was built in the Romanesque period. The choir and the tower in its current height date back to the second half of the 15th century. At the beginning of the 18th century the church was rebuilt and consecrated to St. Laurentius .
