The Catholic branch church St. Laurentius is a monument in Rinnenthal near Friedberg in Bavaria .

history

A Romanesque church consecrated to St. Vitus was built in the 12th and 13th centuries. Century erected. The present choir and the tower at its current height date back to the second half of the 15th century . Around 1725 the nave was redesigned and the church was consecrated to St. Laurentius . In the second half of the 18th century, the church was redesigned in the Rococo style. The nave was extended to the west in 1934.

Building description

The church is a hall building with a flat needle cap barrel and polygonal east choir, which is shifted to the south from the axis of the nave. The northern, four-storey gable roof tower has pilaster strips and cornices as well as double acoustic arcades . In the west there is a small sign on the nave.

Furnishing

The ceiling frescoes with depictions of St. Laurentius come from Sigismund Reis and were created in 1760. The martyrdom of the saint is depicted in the nave . The four medallions represent the virtues of faith, hope, love and wisdom. In the choir there are depictions of various scenes in the life of St. Lawrence and, in the center, his glorification in front of the mercy seat with God the Father, Christ and the Holy Spirit. The baroque altars with pictures by Benedikt Derth are from 1724 ( main altar ) and 1732 (painting of the side altars). The altarpiece of the main altar also shows the martyrdom of the titular saint. The excerpt shows the lamentation of Christ . The two kneeling chandelier angels are older than the altar and were made around 1600. The altar leaves of the side altars show the Holy Walk on the right and the Fourteen Holy Helpers on the left . The figures of Saints Urban and Lorenz in the pulpit area are from the end of the 16th century. Most of the other figures were created by Johann Caspar Öberl between 1730 and 1740.
