Rita Katherine Steblin (born April 22, 1951 in Chilliwack , BC, Canada ; † September 3, 2019 in Vienna ) was a musicologist , known for her archive work , in which she combined music history with iconography and genealogy .

Life

After completing her studies in Vancouver , Toronto , Urbana (Illinois) and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna , she worked in Canada (especially in Vancouver) and since 1991 in Vienna; first at the International Franz Schubert Institute and then as an independent researcher.

Steblin's main research interests were Ludwig van Beethoven , Franz Schubert , the characteristics of keys, and musical and social life in Austria (including Hungary and Bohemia ) in the late 18th and early 19th centuries .
