Robert "Rob" Cimetta (born February 15, 1970 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs and in the German Ice Hockey League for the Adler Mannheim and Berlin Capitals played.

Player career

The 1.83 m tall winger began his career with the Toronto Marlboros in the Canadian Junior League OHL before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft as 18th in the first round by the Boston Bruins .

In the 1988/89 season , the left shooter completed his first NHL missions for Boston, he also played for the Maine Mariners , the then farm team of the Bruins in the American Hockey League . In the following season , the Canadian was in 47 NHL games on the ice, scoring eight goals and nine assists . In November 1990 , Cimetta was finally transferred from the Bruins to his hometown of Toronto to the Maple Leafs , where he completed 49 games in the following two years. However, it was used more and more in various farm teams in the AHL and the IHL .

For the 1994/95 season Rob Cimetta moved to the newly founded DEL to the Adler Mannheim , for which he completed 192 season and play-off games until 1998 , scoring 95 goals and 132 assists. Even today, Cimetta occupies fifth place in the team's internal goals, assists and points list. With the Adler, Cimetta won the German championship twice in 1997 and 1998 . The Canadian ended his career in 2000 with the Berlin Capitals, for which he had already played eight games in the 1996/97 season .

International

Due to his strong performance in his last OHL season, which he could finish as top scorer, Robert Cimetta was nominated in 1989 for the Canadian junior national team , for which he played seven games at the U20 World Cup in 1989 .

Others

After finishing his sporting career, Cimetta worked for an American finance company Morgan Stanley . During the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 , he was on the 61st floor of the south tower, which was the second of the two towers to be rammed by a hijacked aircraft. However, he was able to save himself and was unharmed.
