Career

Andersson began playing football at Torups BK , from 1991 he was under contract with Halmstads BK . There he made his debut in 1992 after relegation from the Allsvenskan in the second division, where he contributed as a substitute player with a goal in ten league games as a substitute for promotion. In the top division he established himself as a regular player and was a dangerous attacker. After scoring ten goals in the 1994 season , national coach Tommy Svensson nominated him in April 1995 for an international match against Hungary as part of qualifying for the 1996 European Championship . As a substitute for Håkan Mild , he made his debut in the national team with a 0-1 deficit by a goal from Halmai Gábor to strengthen the offensive, but remained like his teammates without a goal. This was his only international appearance, although he scored eleven goals by the end of the season and won the national cup with the club through a 3-1 final win against AIK alongside Torbjörn Arvidsson , Peter Vougt , Håkan Svensson , Jesper Mattsson , Niclas Alexandersson and Niklas Gudmundsson had won.

In the summer of 1997 Andersson moved within Allsvenskan to IFK Göteborg , with a transfer fee of 7.5 million crowns at the time, the most expensive game transfer within Sweden. While his previous club won the championship at the end of the season, he finished second with the Gothenburg club. After a coach change from Mats Jingblad to Reine Almqvist during the 1998 season , he could not get along with the new supervisor and moved to the Greek club Iraklis Thessaloniki in the summer of that year . Here, however, his stay remained unsuccessful with seven league games without hits, so that he returned to Sweden after only half a year in winter.

In early 1999, Andersson joined Halmstads BK again, where he became a regular player. In the 2000 season he contributed nine goals this season to winning the championship. In 2003 he left the club to end his active career after 227 games in the Allsvenskan with 70 goals at the amateur club BK Astrio .
